HELEN FRANKENTHALER

Last week I did another day trip, this time to Margate, to see the Making Painting: Helen Frankenthaler and JMW Turner exhibition at the Turner Contemporary. The exhibition displays a selection of works by the two artists and lets you see the associations between the two, regardless of the temporal, cultural and geographical divides.

It’s a stunning exhibition, an ode to colour, movement, light, and mood, which made me discover the work of Abstract Expressionist painter Helen Frankenthaler. The show also includes a film which gives an insight into her unique process.

The exhibition runs until the 11th of May.
